Institutional set-up

Executive Director (ED) is the Chief Functionary of the organization, conducting all the day-to-day operations on behalf of the Executive Committee (EC), which is in turn responsible for the Governing Body. Present organizational structure of BIRDS is depicted. It is clear that ED is at the center of the organization with devolution of powers to the second line. The management function starts from ED and proceeds downwards. ED is however answerable to the EC of BIRDS. EC meets once in a quarter and review the work of the organization. Members of EC are drawn from the pool of the General Body, which meets once in a year to approve the annual plan and budget, and if necessary to make changes in the EC.

Governing Body of BIRDS is similar to the General Body of agencies registered under the Societies Act. Any individual or agency can become members of BIRDS Governing Body by paying membership fee, as prescribed in the bye-law. Executive Committee consists of seven people of repute. Present membership of the BIRDS Executive Committee is furnished.
