FAO Indian Office team in BIRDS on 21st, Oct. 2014

Ms. Uma Balaji and team has come to BIRDS for a three days visited BIRDS to learn and to see the activities of SPACC Project in Kurnool district, BIRDS team has taken all the teams to the sites where we have established the PCM stations and meet with the farmers and discussed on the how the project has helped them to take decisions to adapt the traditional methods to follow.

BIRDS has also organised a gallery walk on CWB-Crop water budget exercise and PCCS – Participatory Climate Change Schools sessions guide have explained to the team through Gallery walk organised by the team of BIRDS and it was facilitated by the farmer resource persons.

Celebrated International Widows Day and inauguration of the Sanitary Napkin Project on 26th, July. 2014

Over 100 widows gathered with BIRDS staff, and supporters from Gordon College and Pacific University, to celebrate International Widows Appreciation Day, and the inauguration of the Sanitary Napkin Project, sponsored by SHELTER International.

Pastor Jacob initiated the event with an opening prayer and blessing before Laura Carmer, Director of Missions and Service Learning at Gordon College, cut the tape to officially inaugurate the commencement of the Sanitary Napkin Project. read more....

FCS training of BIRDS-SPACC Project at Allagada on 18th, Sep. 2013

FCS on rice crop for the Kharif season 2013 organized at Mandaluru village of Rudravaram Mandal on 18th, Sep. 2013, which fall in Chinneru HU. Almost 18 farmers participated in this half-day training, including men and women.

The participants discussed the importance of weed management in rice crop and the importance of bio-fertilizers in controlling the pest and diseases. Project staff introduced a kind of plant, Azolla, to the farmers. read more....

An experience sharing by BIRDS international volunteer, Ibu, 7th July,2013

“I thought they would never accomplish this work when I saw them distributing the leaflet to women.” said one staff in the summing-up function.

This is the first project I conduct in my voluntary service overseas in India. Bravely I planed a small proposal and executed it without any backwards choice, for it indeed is a tiny one with 11,000 rupees expenditure (including snacks, materials, assistant and function food). read more....

Maharastra WOTR Group visited to BIRDS on 4th and 5th of April 2013

On 4th and 5th of April 2013, A Team of 30 farmers from Ahmadnagar and Aurnagabad districts along with senior staff of WOTR (Watershed Organisation Trust) Pune, represented by Mr.Eshwer Kale, Mr.Thomas Palghamat and Mr.Yogesh shirde. Have visited BIRDS (NGO) Rakakrisgnapuram, and Chenneru HU learned on PHM-Participatory Hydrological Monitoring Concept, FWS-Farmer Water School and CWB-Crop Water Budget concept and it usage, they have also discussed with farmers on Climate variability and usage of PHM data and weather data.

Trip Report: UPWSRP Team Visit to BIRDS--18/20th March 2013

Mr. C. Konda Reddy assisted Mr. V. Paul Raja Rao, Executive Director, BIRDS in organizing a three-day exposure trip to officials from the Uttar Pradesh Water Sector Restructuring Project (UPWSRP) to the APFAMGS project on 18th – 20th March 2013. Dr. KAS Mani and Mr. C. Konda Reddy were the main presenters.

The workshop was designed to share key concepts and provide ample opportunities for participants to interact with individual farmers and farmer institutions. Presentations were restricted to the forenoon session and in the post-lunch sessions participants interacted with APFAMGS farmers. Here's the report....
